Hace algunos años atrás, nació en mi un nuevo deseo— el de ofrecer consejería. Dios en su infinita gracia y bendición, me concedió las oportunidades para estudiar e incrementar mis conocimientos, tanto en mí misma como en aquellos de mi entorno. Una de estas increíbles e invaluables oportunidades fué el trabajar en el Centro de Crisis de Embarazo, ofreciendo apoyo a mujeres embarazadas. Este rol y ofreciéndo consejería a personas con diferentes historias y de diferentes partes del mundo han incrementado mi amor por la humanidad.
Como tú, he experimentado dolor y pérdidas. También gozo, triunfos y paz. Nací y crecí en Lima, Perú y a una temprana edad conocí el amor de Jesucristo hacia mí en medio del sufrimiento. Por los últimos 16 años y en compañía de mi esposo quien nació y creció en Merritt, BC, he abrazado a éste país como si fuera el mío. Hoy, mi esposo y yo residimos en New Westminster con nuestras dos dulces perritas bichon-poodles.
En mi vida diaria, veo y reconozco la gracia de Dios y la belleza de su creación a través de la humanidad y la belleza en el mundo natural— especialmente en plantas; lo individualmente únicas y frágiles que son y al mismo tiempo cuán resistentes son, es simplemente un misterio para mí. De la misma manera, nosotros como seres creados hechos a imágen y semejanza de Dios, vivimos en éste mundo caído y somos débiles cuando afrontamos nuestras vidas solos, pero somos hechos fuertes en Jesucristo, nuestro Señor y Salvador quién nos dá agua viva para continuar creciendo a pesar de las dificultades. Mi anhelo es que cuando caminemos juntos, habrá reconciliación entre tú y Dios, quien te ama y quiere que el poder redentor de su Hijo Jesucristo brille a través de tí. Mi esperanza es que en medio de tu sufrimiento, te mantengas agarrado a Cristo Jesus porque tenemos sólo dos opciones por escoger cuando sentimos dolor: Corremos lejos de Cristo o Corremos hacia Cristo. Mientras escribo éstas palabras, siento el confort y el ánimo de nuestro Dios quien habla a su pueblo a través de su Palabra:
“Los once discípulos fueron a Galilea, a la montaña que Jesus les había indicado. Cuando la vieron, lo adoraron; pero algunos dudaban. Jesus se acercó entonces a ellos y les dijo: Se me ha dado toda autoridad en el cielo y en la tierra. Por tanto, vayan y hagan discípulos de todas las naciones, bautizándolos en el nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo, enseñándoles a obedecer todo lo que les he mandado a ustedes. Y les aseguro que estaré con ustedes siempre, hasta el fin del mundo.”

WHAT IS BIBLICAL COUNSELLING?
Biblical Counselling is counselling which seeks to understand humanity and the depth of human struggles through the lens of Scripture. As we seek to do this together, conversations will inevitably lead us to consider who God is in the midst of these struggles. This is a journey, one in which we will be challenged and experience growth, one in which our hearts will be encouraged with hope, and one in which we will experience the love and compassion of another.
WHAT CREDENTIALS DO COUNSELLORS AT THE BIBLICAL COUNSELLING GROUP HOLD?
All Counsellors at the Biblical Counselling Group have received their RPC (Registered Professional Counsellor) and either hold or are working toward their MPCC (Master Practitioner in Clinical Counselling) certifications through the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?
Deciding to seek help and to share your deepest struggles (with a complete stranger) is a big step, and we do not take this lightly. You can expect to be greeted warmly, offered tea, and invited in to sit down for a conversation. We will begin by getting to know one another, and then there will be an opportunity for you to share what has been on your heart and in your mind. This is a time for you to ask any questions you might have, share desired goals for counselling and to make a preliminary plan should you decide to continue meeting.
WHAT IF I CAN'T AFFORD THE FULL FEE?
At the Biblical Counselling Group we desire to minimize financial barriers for those trying to access counselling. If you are hesitating to book an appointment for financial reasons, please send an email and share your situation. We are more than happy to work with individuals on this!
HOW DOES THE BIBLICAL COUNSELLING GROUP WORK WITH MY CHURCH OR SUPPORT COMMUNITY?
At the Biblical Counselling Group we believe that the best context for lasting change involves community. Your local church and support network will be vital to your change and growth process. As such, we view counselling as an extension of and support to your already existing community.
